What sort of visual guide is required? This discourse requires an expert looking school level visual guide. I don't get that's meaning? It implies a visual guide that one may discover in a school class or the expert world. In different words, not a banner that looks as though a third-grader with pastels made it; not just composition or drawing on the whiteboard; and not simply an item urgently tossed in at last to meet the visual guide necessity. A decent visual guide is all around considered/important, sufficiently enormous to be effectively observed by each individual in the room, plainly named, basic enough that the watcher can u ndoubtedly make sense of the point, and is completely Comm 1100 â⬠Pergrem fused into the discourse â⬠â⬠NOT simply attached toward the end like ââ¬Å"Oh and here's my visual aid. It's an image of a pooch. â⬠What makes a decent visual guide? An article can be a decent visual guide. For instance, I'm discussing standard ts of a skateboard and I acquire my board as a model to show to the crowd. An image/diagram/chart/drawing, and so on can be a decent visual guide. Once more, it ought to be enormous enough for everybody's viewing pleasure. How might you achieve this? Expand it at Office Depot, Staples, and so on and put it on froth board (far superior to banner board). Outlines, diagrams, and so forth ought to be done on the PC and marks composed, not drawn by hand.Another choice is to pass out a duplicate of our visual to everybody, for instance, a National Guard enlistment handout for everybody in the class to be dropped before you start your discourse. Try not to PA SS STUFF AROUND DURING YOUR SPEECH. This is very diverting for the crowd and for you the speaker. Furthermore, obviously you can place designs into a PowerPoint slideshow or other electronic medium and show them on the screen (you don't need to do an out and out PowerPoint introduction to put the illustrations up). This can be an excellent method to get pictures, diagrams, and so on into an organization that everybody can see.How do you do it? Make your stuff and afterward either email it to yourself or spare it on a blaze drive (don't spare it in your understudy envelope). I will have the projector and PC up at the front of the room. You will bring your glimmer drive up and plug in, or you will pull up your email on the PC and open your PowerPoint from that point. NOTE: You can't login under your name/secret key on the teacher PC at the front of the room. In this way, you can't get to your visual guide on the off chance that you store it in y our understudy ââ¬Å"folder. â⬠Y ou can, notwithstanding, get to your understudy email. Shouldn't something be said about video cuts as a visual aid? These are fine as long as they are 20 seconds or less. You should really represent three minutes. Consider the possibility that you have a Mac. You should get your Mac stuff into some kind of arrangement our windows based machines can peruse. It won't work to attempt to plug your Mac into our video framework. By what means would it be a good idea for me to dress? I am not necessitating that you wear dress garments to introduce your discourse. I am necessitating that you look sensible and suitable for a semi - formal study hall introduction: DO NOT wear a cap, DO NOT wear whatever occupies the crowd, DO wear reasonabl e garments that are perfect and tidy. For model, your garments ought not look like you were simply battered by wild creatures, that you are trying out for the grown-up media outlet, that you simply wrapped up, that you are going to star in a musi c video, o r that you are going to walk onto the playing field for a fight. What steps do I take to make a discourse? 1. Break down your crowd and your inclinations, choosing a fitting, advantageous, and fascinating subject on which you can discover sufficient exploration. 2. Create and plan your discourse utilizing sufficient exploration material to meet as far as possible. Settle on your central matters and sub-points.Be sure to incorporate fluctuated bolster gadgets (at any rate 3 distinct sorts) as talked about (details, stories, models, think about/differentiate, and so on). 3. Make your discourse utilizing an obviously sorted out structu

Effects of Popaganda films on World War II Essay -- essays papers
Impacts of popaganda films on WWII The impacts of film on WWII purposeful publicity Without the approach of the mode of film to wage a war of purposeful publicity both the Axis and the Allies of World War II would have thought that it was hard to accumulate as much help for their causes as they did. Firearms, tanks, and bombs were the foremost weapons of World War II, yet there were other, increasingly unpretentious, types of fighting too. Words, banners, and movies pursued a consistent fight for the hearts and psyches of the majority of the world similarly as without a doubt as military weapons drew in the adversary. Convincing the open turned into a wartime industry, nearly as significant as the assembling of projectiles and planes. The two sides propelled a forceful promulgation battle to stir open help, and a portion of these nationââ¬â¢s first learned people, craftsmen, and movie producers became warriors on that front. Publicity in the broadest sense is the method of impacting human activity by the control of portrayals. These portrayals may take the spoken, composed, pictorial, or melodic structure. Since the film utilizes every one of the four of these kinds of portrayals, a movie producer would appear to employ a ton of intensity as an advocate. In the event that he so decides to utilize his capacity to its fullest potential. The fundamental qualification lies in the expectations of the advocate to convince a group of people to embrace the demeanor or activity the individual upholds. This is predominant as Hitler picked up help from his country to kill the Jewish individuals from Germany and Europe the same. He embraced such help by utilizing his Nazi purposeful publicity films as a weapon of mass interruption and control of the individuals of Germany. In the event that he had not romanticized the German officer as a saint, and presented patriotism in his kin, and accused the monetary issues of German for the Jewish race then he could never have had the option to achieve what he had in such a short measure of time. The most acclaimed Nazi promulgation film is Der ewige Jude (ââ¬Å"The Eternal Jewâ⬠). ââ¬Å"Der Ewige Judeâ⬠was built by Hitlerââ¬â¢s Minister of Propaganda. It was made to legitimize the avoidance, and the at last the annihilation, of a whole people. It portrays the Jews of Poland as degenerate, messy, languid, revolting, and unreasonable: they are an outsider people which have assumed control over the world through their control of banking and business, yet which despite everything live like creatures. The narra... ...at the different methods for publicity have on the incredible masses, film is without question the most remarkable. The composed and verbally expressed word rely altogether upon the substance or on the enthusiastic intrigue of the speaker, yet film utilizes pictures, pictures that for a long time have been joined by sound. We realize that the effect of a message is more noteworthy on the off chance that it is less conceptual, progressively visual. That clarifies why film, with its arrangement of consistently moving pictures, must have a specific powerful power. Film is a viable apparatus in pursuing a war. With out it, it is difficult to get the individuals to remain behind you and bolster your motivation. Without the individuals it is difficult to win a war. Hence I feel that with out movies commitment to the purposeful publicity exertion the WWII would have been extremely, unique. Edgar Germain Hilaire Degasââ¬â¢ ââ¬ÅWaitingââ¬Â Free Essays
Among the most fascinating work of present day craftsmanship in plain view in the J. Paul Getty Museum is Edgar Germain Hilaire Degasââ¬â¢ ââ¬Å"Waiting,â⬠a pastel canvas done around 1882. In this work, Degas catches the image of a youthful ballet performer and a more seasoned lady sitting on a seat, evidently trusting that something will occur or somebody to show up. We will compose a custom article test on Edgar Germain Hilaire Degasââ¬â¢ ââ¬Å"Waitingâ⬠or on the other hand any comparative point just for you Request Now The artistic creation is an investigation of the sharp complexity among youth and mature age, which is outlined in the play of hues, light, and shadows that the painter painstakingly safeguarded in his work. The youthful ballet performer is painted in delicate shades of gold, blue, and cream which mirror the light while the more seasoned lady is garbed in dark. In a similar way, the more youthful subject is painted to recommend movement, vitality and eagerness; here she is kneading her feet, clearly trusting that a presentation will start. The lady, then again, is stationary, without light development and goes over to be trusting that the activity will end so she can rest. Degasââ¬â¢ ââ¬Å"Waitingâ⬠is shown in a little dull room situated on the left half of the historical center passageway. Shown alongside it are German painter Joseph Vivienââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Portrait of a Manâ⬠and Swiss painter Jean-Ãâ°tienne Liotardââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Maria Frederike van Reede-Athlone at Seven.â⬠The haziness of the room draws out the sharp differentiation in hues and the utilization of light in the pastels. In like manner, its little size is unmistakably intended to pass on a feeling of closeness wherein the watcher feels a feeling of benefit at getting a brief look at so close to home a thing as an individualââ¬â¢s representation. The course of action of the works of art delineates the different impacts of specialists as per their individual periods. Specifically, the works show the movement of picture and the utilization of pastel as a medium since Vivienââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Portrait of a Manâ⬠in 1725 to Degasââ¬â¢ ââ¬Å"Waitingâ⬠a century and a half later. Unmistakably Degasââ¬â¢ work is an enormous takeoff from the customary idea of painting peopleââ¬â¢s representations. Vivienââ¬â¢s picture is painstakingly made by the creative shows of parity and shading; its subject is reluctantly situated at the focal point of the peddle, catching the face, and his figure seems to come out of the shadows. Vivienââ¬â¢s hues are severe and serious, which mirrors the predominant style around then. Liotardââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Maria Frederike van Reede-Athlone,â⬠then again, mirrors an unobtrusive change in the painterââ¬â¢s bed from Vivienââ¬â¢s dim, quieted hues to striking, yet chilly tones. In any case, a similar standard is applied with respect to the subjectââ¬â¢s position. Thus, Degasââ¬â¢ ââ¬Å"Waitingâ⬠hangs out in sharp complexity to the two artistic creations. Initially, he plainly evades the overall idea of representation by demonstrating two subjects who expect places that are not generally acknowledged in picture: the little youngster is indicated rubbing her feet, which makes her face concealed by the crowd, while the womanââ¬â¢s face is half-shrouded by her cap. Degas likewise draws his subjects from a totally different edge and point of view; he is clearly not as keen on indicating their facial faces as in demonstrating their characters through non-verbal communication. He likewise surrenders the dim tones for strong, splendid, and warm hues to make emotional complexities in his work. ââ¬Å"Waitingâ⬠outlines Degasââ¬â¢ liking with the impressionist development, in spite of the fact that he clearly hated being called one as a result of major ideological breaks with noticeable impressionist painters. He especially condemned his self-admitted impressionist counterparts for their act of painting in ââ¬Å"plein-airâ⬠as he accepted that it was commensurate to replicating which meddled with the artistââ¬â¢s creative mind. (Smith 58) Nevertheless, Degasââ¬â¢ work unmistakably shares indistinguishable impressionist attributes from appeared in his style and selection of occasions and individuals of regular daily existence as subjects. Like crafted by most impressionist painters, for example, Edouard Manet, Claude Monet, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Alfred Sisley, Berthe Morisot, Jean Frederic Bazille, and Camille Pissarro, Degasââ¬â¢ ââ¬Å"Waitingâ⬠mirrored the conviction that ââ¬Å"art ought to identify with this present reality and reflect current lifeâ⬠instead of painting strict and legendary figures that was generally preferred by connosieurs of high workmanship. (Snider) Its decision of subject, a ballet dancer and her partner during the time spent pausing, catches a part of present day French life. Its style without a doubt reflects the impressionistsââ¬â¢ interest with catching light in the most sensible way, and its hues additionally convey the impressionist inclination for warm, dynamic tones that propose development and life. Despite the fact that Degasââ¬â¢ works and his fixation on the figures of ladies, especially artists, in his canvases have frequently welcomed changed understanding from workmanship pundits and academicians, unmistakably his white collar class foundation and childhood has colossal impact in molding his selection of subjects. (Theodore 145) Reff Theodore construes that Degasââ¬â¢ enthusiasm for painting development emerged from his initial introduction to the expressive dance which was ââ¬Å"a recognizable piece of the contemporary sceneâ⬠in nineteenth century Paris. (145) The effect of Degasââ¬â¢ foundation is likewise found in his being ââ¬Å"deeply worried about truth for the wellbeing of its own, in examining life underneath the outside layer of good mannersâ⬠(Nicolson 172) in his portrayal of Parisian present day life. In ââ¬Å"Waiting,â⬠Degas genuinely depicts the contrasts between his subjects, basically saying something about the dismal truth that the youthful ballet performer, with all her energy and excellence, will before long go into the life of her partner, depleted and tired of the world. It is recommended that Degasââ¬â¢ and other impressionistsââ¬â¢ thoughts were generally affected by the quick innovative and social advancements of their time. To be sure, impressionism drew quite a bit of its thoughts from developments, methods, and ideas in photography. (Snider) Clearly, Degas and his peers were so intrigued by the capacity of photos to catch the specific impact of light regarding its matters that they looked to reproduce this capacity in their compositions. Different painters, similar to Monet, even attempted to duplicate the photographic impacts of changing shade speeds in his work. (Snider) Degasââ¬â¢ foundation as a craftsman delivered and shaped by remarkable and tumultous changes in his time that was achieved by the fast industrialization of France and the entirety of Europe, his pastel work ââ¬Å"Waitingâ⬠could be shown in another display along with Claude Monetââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Gare Saint-Lazare,â⬠an artwork which shows the Saint-Lazare train station. This work of art would give a contemporary crowd a thought of ââ¬Å"Waitingââ¬â¢sâ⬠foundation as the train is a pervasive image of the modern insurgency which held the financial as well as social existence of Europe in Degasââ¬â¢ time. Henceforth, Monetââ¬â¢s work sets the mind-set for Degasââ¬â¢ inquisitive investigation of youth and mature age in the time of innovation, where everything passes rapidly. Different works that could be shown nearby Degasââ¬â¢ ââ¬Å"Waitingâ⬠is Auguste Renoirââ¬â¢s painting ââ¬Å"The Dance at the Moulin Delagaletteâ⬠and Degasââ¬â¢ own work ââ¬Å"The Millinery Shopâ⬠which shows the social exercises of the French white collar class and the exercises of average workers ladies, separately. The two compositions would likewise feature the complexity that Degas tried to depict in his subjects, wherein Renoirââ¬â¢s white collar class subjects, painted as they associate in a gathering, is contrasted and a solitary lady while making caps that are apparently worn by the individuals who can manage the cost of it. In like manner, Andy Warholââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Campbell Soup Cansâ⬠would likewise be a fitting touch to the display as it implies the approach of large scale manufacturing. In spite of the fact that Warholââ¬â¢s work is at chances with the impressionist subject of Degasââ¬â¢ work, it in any case echoes the ââ¬Å"o rdinarinessâ⬠and tedious example of current life that Degas catches in his artistic creation. a semester im excited for
a semester im excited for At long last, Ive finally reached a semester where at least half my semester is comprised of classes I actually really want to take. Here are the classes I took the previous three semesters, complete with a color coded key of how I classify the classes.Notice the relatively small fraction of classes per semester that I actually wanted to take and the overwhelming number of requirements/GIRs that are on there. Now if we take a look at this semester Look at all those classes that I actually want to take! Im even excited for the required classes, which is really saying something. Lets go through all of these so I can fangirl about each of them individually. 6.073 (Creating Video Games): Ive been waiting to take this class since freshman fall, and its honestly one of the biggest reasons that I declared my double major in CMS so early (I am officially a double major, by the way!!). Classes with limited enrollment like 6.073 (officially CMS.611) are hard to get in without an affiliation in CMS. There are four projects of increasing sizes, and all of them are you guessed it creating video games! The final project involves creating STEM games for middle schoolers in Nepal, and Im pretty interested in edtech, so I think that this will be a cool thing to work on. This class is also apparently known as project management, the class, and thats a skill that Id like to develop this semester, both in classes and in other arenas. Im looking ahead to next summer to maybe get an internship in project management, so this class and my tenure as CPW Chair of East Campus will be good experience for that. 6.033 (Computer Systems Engineering): 6.033 is the Course 6 CI-M, which is one of the two communication intensive classes that Course 6s have to take. I actually think that even though this class is a requirement, Im going to enjoy it a lot. One of the bigger components of the class involves reading papers and discussing them in recitation, and I finally feel like this is a Course 6 class that I can actually do well in all my years of being good at English class have prepared me for this. CMS.614 (Network Cultures): This is Peteys class and oh boy I am hyped because a. I love Petey and b. the material of this class is super cool. According to the first line of Peteys syllabus: This course is a survey of important topics in the social and cultural aspects of networked media (including computers, mobile devices, entertainment technologies, and emerging media forms). Our entire society is networked heck, even humans are just one big network when you think about it and learning about how they work is important! 7.013 (Intro to Biology): I actually tried to ASE Biology when I entered MIT, but I got a D on the Bio ASE, and while that is technically a passing grade (Ds get degrees), it isnt for ASEing things, so I didnt get any credit. I was kind of salty about this for a while, but after sitting through the first 7.013 lecture, Im honestly kind of excited to be back in a biology class. I really like bio in a slightly different version of this universe, I would have been a Course 7. Other things Im doing this semester: UROP: One of the reasons Im not really broken up about not getting into one of the classes I tried to lottery for is that Id really like to spend a lot of time on my UROP this semester. It involves making a game in Unity as a platform to observe how creative children are, and also going around to public schools in the area to have kids play similar games. I really enjoy working on it (even though Unity is really buggy and is a disaster to work with, especially if youre using Git) and I want to put in a lot of time so that I can finish it and hopefully have kids playing it before the end of the semester. Fencing: The season ends within a month, which is weird, since fencing is literally the only activity I have that gives structure to my day. Fencing is still really difficult for me and I have so many things to work on, so I hope that I can find it in me to keep practicing from 5-7 every day even when the season ends. East Campus CPW Chair: Im finally part of the East Campus swamp (a vaguely self-derogating term used by people who care about EC politics a lot)! My job as one of three chairs is to make sure that East Campuss CPW has a lot of awesome events and runs smoothly, and to interface with Admissions and the DormCon (Dormitory Council) CPW Chairs (Shuli is one of them!) to ensure that all the events are safe and SFW. This is a pretty big commitment, and I had to take a break from a cappella for it this semester, so Im hoping that I can do a good job and gain a lot of experience in planning and managing large events like CPW. 1E Hall Chair: 1E is the hall I live on, and Ive finally graduated to being a hall chair! This means that me and the two other hall chairs have to attend every dormwide meeting to make sure that our hall gets a say in things, as well as make sure that all the administrative business on our hall gets taken care of. I actually ran for the position as a freshman last year, but was beaten out by three upperclassmen (which is fair), so Im excited that I finally get to represent my hall. I finalized my schedule today its always satisfying to know that none of your classes are in flux anymore. Here it is, in all its glory! How to Organize Your List of Scholarship Applications
Common Methods to Organize Your ApplicationsSticky NotesAs a college student, I personally used sticky notes to keep track of my applications. Each application had one note, with the due date, requirements, and total award amount. spent far too much time organizing what seemed like hundreds of sticky notes on my dorm room wall, as I attempted to sort scholarships by deadlines, award amounts, and essay topics. The process was a huge time consumer, and incredibly frustrating!Spreadsheets or Word DocumentsSpreadsheets and lists are great to organize your notes and deadlines as well. The one challenge here is making sure you check back to see if any deadlines are coming up.Electronic CalendarsYou can also put deadlines in your electronic calendar, setting a reminder for the deadline so you dont miss it. Still, you have to make sure you actually use that electronic calendar!Paper Method with Folders or BinderLastly, you can also print out the applications and create a folder or binder wit h everything in them. This of course welcomes the similar challenge of no reminders before deadlines (and lets not forget about the poor trees)As you can see, these are all decent methods but they certainly have their flaws. This source of stress and anxiety and frustration motivated The Scholarship System team to create a process that would ease application organization for its students; and it is completely free for YOU to use!The New Way to Organize Your Applications Is your list of scholarship applications growing out of control? Saint Ambrose of Milan Father of the Church
Ambrose was the second son of Ambrosius, the imperial viceroy of Gaul and part of an ancient Roman family who numbered several Christian martyrs among their ancestors. Though Ambrose was born at Trier, his father died not long after and he was brought to Rome to be raised. Throughout his childhood, the future saint would be acquainted with many members of the clergy and would regularly visit with his sister Marcellina, who was a nun. Fast Facts Known For: Bishop, Philosopher, Theologian, Religious Leader, Saint, Teacher, WriterBorn: April 4, 397, ColombiaOrdained: December 7, c. 340Died: April 4,397Father: AmbrosiusDied: April 4, 397Notable Quote: If you are at Rome live in the Roman style; if you are elsewhere live as they live elsewhere. Saint Ambrose as Bishop of Milan At about age 30, Ambrose became the governor of Aemilia-Liguria and took up residence in Milan. Then, in 374, he was unexpectedly chosen as bishop, even though he was not yet baptized, to help avoid a disputed election and keep the peace. The choice proved fortunate for both Ambrose and the city, for though his family was venerable it was also somewhat obscure, and he did not pose much of a political threat. He was ideally suited to Christian leadership and exerted a favorable cultural influence on his flock. He also displayed a rigid intolerance toward non-Christians and heretics. Ambrose played an important role in the struggle against the Arian heresy, standing against them at a synod in Aquileia and refusing to turn over a church in Milan for their use. When a pagan faction of the senate appealed to Emperor Valentinian II for a return to regular pagan observances, Ambrose responded in a letter to the emperor with sound arguments that effectively shut the pagans down. Ambrose frequently helped the poor, secured pardons for the condemned, and denounced social injustices in his sermons. He was always happy to educate people interested in becoming baptized. He frequently criticized public figures, and he advocated chastity to such an extent that parents of marriageable young women hesitated to let their daughters attend his sermons for fear theyd take the veil. Ambrose was enormously popular as bishop and on the occasions when he butted heads with imperial authority, it was this popularity that kept him from suffering unduly in consequence. Legend has it that Ambrose was told in a dream to search for the remains of two martyrs, Gervasius and Protasius, which he found under the church. Saint Ambrose the Diplomat In 383, Ambrose was engaged to negotiate with Maximus, who had usurped power in Gaul and was preparing to invade Italy. The bishop was successful in dissuading Maximus from marching south. When Ambrose was asked to negotiate again three years later, his advice to his superiors was ignored. Maximus invaded Italy and conquered Milan. Ambrose stayed in the city and helped the populace. Several years later, when Valentinian was overthrown by Eugenius, Ambrose fled the city until Theodosius (the Eastern Roman emperor) ousted Eugenius and reunified the empire. Though he did not support Eugenius himself, Ambrose petitioned the emperor for pardons for those who had. Literature and Music Saint Ambrose wrote profusely. Most of his surviving works are in the form of sermons. These have often been exalted as masterpieces of eloquence and are the reason for Augustines conversion to Christianity. The writings of Saint Ambrose include the Hexaemeron (ââ¬Å"On the Six Days of Creationâ⬠), De Isaac et anima (ââ¬Å"On Isaac and the Soulâ⬠), De bono mortis (ââ¬Å"On the Goodness of Deathâ⬠), and De officiis ministrorum, which expounded on the clergys moral obligations. Ambrose also composed beautiful hymns, including Aeterne rerum Conditor (ââ¬Å"Framer of the earth and skyâ⬠) and Deus Creator omnium (ââ¬Å"Maker of all things, God most highâ⬠). Philosophy and Theology Both before and after his rise to the bishopric, Ambrose was an avid student of philosophy and he incorporated what he learned into his own particular brand of Christian theology. One of the most notable ideas he expressed was of the Christian Church building its foundation on the ruins of the declining Roman Empire, and of the role of Christian emperors as dutiful servants of the churchà ââ¬âà making them, therefore, subject to the influence of church leaders. This idea would have a powerful impact on the development of medieval Christian theology and the administrative policies of the medieval Christian Church. Saint Ambrose of Milan was known for being a Doctor of the Church. Ambrose was the first to formulate ideas about church-state relations, which would become the prevalent medieval Christian viewpoint on the matter. A bishop, teacher, writer, and composer, St. Ambrose is also famous for having baptized St. Augustine.

Mechanical Properties And Thermal Analysis - 1583 Words
Composite structure is a combination of two or more different items that may be distinguished physically, resulting in a final product that has a better performance from each component individually done. It consists of matrix composite materials (polymer, metal or ceramic) and one or more stages of reinforcement (fibers, particles, flakes, or fillers). The combination of the different elements appropriately to achieve a system with structural or functional characteristics of the best that can be achieved through one of the components alone. The vehicle has become an essential part of the day because of the material advantages such as low weight, high corrosion resistance, high strength and fatigue, and faster assembly. Used widely as raw materials in the airframe industry, packaging, electronics, medical equipment and spacecraft building materials home [1]. The increased use of composite materials for various applications underlines its importance / significance in mechanical properties and thermal analysis of an engineering system. The thermal conductivity of a composite material (combination of two or more components) can be measured by experimental methods. Social Issues In American Literature - 972 Words
American Literature from its beginnings is shaped by a demand towards reforming society by bringing awareness towards towards social issues and a need to question societal norms.American literature from its beginnings has focused around establishing the American identity , and has also served as a means to address social issues that have plagues American society. The three authors that are representative of these ideals are the following; Hector De St John Crevecoeur Benjamin Franklin, and Hannah Foster. These authors represent different perspectives on American issues, ranging from revolutionary era america, womenââ¬â¢s rights, and also establishing a set of values that represent the American Identity. Although Letters does provid e praise towards the New world, it also demonstrated the issues associated with forming a new world. These issues are that of the vast disparities of wealth, institution of slavery, and that the New World consists of colonies that are made up of contradictions. Ultimately, Letters provides a pessimistis forecast for Ameriaââ¬â¢s future and puts into question the nature of humanity in the forming of America. A work of literature that contrasts the ideas stated in Letters is Benjamin Franklinââ¬â¢s Poor Richardââ¬â¢s Almanack. One of the main purposes of this almanac was to actually help the average citizen in achieving prosperity. Franklin like Crevecouer, uses a persona in his writings. The persona that is used by Franklin is that of a poor farmer (Poor Richard), which helped to connect with Franklinââ¬â¢s target audience, which was the common American citizen. This style of writing contrasts with Crevocuer because instead of making observations about the corruption of America, Poor Richards Almanac tries to help Americans out by using rational logic towards the problems of taxation, accumulating debt, and promoting the concept of sociability. This almanac largely consisted of maxims of these ideals. The policy and implications of the British Governmentââ¬â¢s Free Essays
The Olympic spirit is undoubtedly the most universal celebration of global unity ever achieved and the continuation of the same will always be an integral part of international cooperation and globalization. In this regard it is an honor for any city in this world to host the Olympic Games since doing so bestows several opportunities for such a city and its dwellers. The Olympic movement has had to involve in many ways depending on its leadership in a bid to make it more integral, independent and reach a wider audience than before (Constantine, 2000). We will write a custom essay sample on The policy and implications of the British Governmentââ¬â¢s or any similar topic only for you Order Now This changes has necessitate the need to adopt modern and innovative practices to the organization and running of Olympic affairs in order to cater for the monetary and logistical obligations of the management committees and to be able to organize superior games n broadcast them to a world audience. The IOC presidency of Samarech saw the international committee acquire rights to sell broadcasting rights to media companies in a bid to make the IOC financially independent. Furthermore, they developed an Olympic brand that could be sold to companies who would use it as an exclusive tool to market their products. This brand becomes one of the biggest revenue earners for the Olympic committee since acquiring the rights to use the brand is an extremely expensive affair. The IOC is responsible for choosing the host city for the Olympic Games and therefore enjoys immense power since an interested city has to convince the committee that it is capable of hosting the games and upholding the standards that are vital for the success of the mammoth games. These have led to unethical conduct of some bidding committees who have tried to influence the award of this honor by offering bribes to committee members. The idea of having the Olympic Games held in the U K is not new. Several bids have been put forward in past years by the city of Birmingham and Manchester without much success since the Olympic committee saw it as a lack of commitment on the U K authorities and interpreted their bids as not being serious enough. However, there has been a change of attitude amidst various stake holders who have been seeking an avenue of effecting a growth in elite sportsmanship by ensuring that elite English athletes are given forums to compete and excel and consequently earn U K respect in the sports arena. Some concern has existed in the inability of the U K to be among the very top medal earners in the Olympic Games and efforts have picked up momentum to correct this deficit. It was therefore clear that drastic measures will have to be taken in order to draw the necessary attention which hopefully would translate to more attention on sports funding and a significant progress in the success of U K athletes (Gibson Booth, 2009) The momentum to host the Olympic 2012 games was not easy to build due to a lack of commitment on the part of the central government. There were questions as to the viability of London to host the games due to several factors that many saw as a stumbling block to the success of the games. However, there was general consensus among the various ranks of private groups in all sectors that the competitiveness of London as one of the major and important cities in world arena was under threat by emerging powers. Others felt that the U K governments have continuously failed to give priorities to games in a nation plagued by obesity and idle youths. Therefore, several groups of people and the media played a significant role in forcing the government to concede to be the guarantor against the total cost of hosting the games. On July 6 2005 the president of the Olympic committee announced that the 2012 games would be hosted by London acting as the climax of a process that had taken over 7 years to become reality (B O A, 2009). The bid committee popularly known as the BOA initiated in the early days a massive PR campaign that sought to gain the approval of the government and fuel public support for the bid in the hope that doing so would give them the necessary edge to beat the other competitors. The team used a strategy of persuading all involved of the diverse benefits that were to be reaped following the success of the beads among them public exposure, improved transportation, employment and housing improvements. The success of the commonwealth games in Manchester acted as a booster for the team since it showed the commitment and ability of the country to host large games events. And thus the effort of this committee, the government and several other contributors led to the successful biding and the process of building the necessary facilities to host the games is underway. Hosting the Olympic Games poses serious challenges to any country due to the great infrastructural and logistical needs of the project. The games are expected to cost nearly 9 billion pounds for the building of the Olympic village and the upgrading of other vital sectors including upgrading of existing venues and the road and rail system. There is a worry that the games might cost the tax payers more money since it is expected that the current budget might not be sufficient to cater for all the requirements. Another challenge is the transport system which is below standard and there will be a need to improve it and expand it if the games are to go on smoothly (Briginshaw, 2006). Another challenge is the need to provide the venues and management committees with modern technology in order co ordinate the games effectively. Lastly is the problem of the Olympic legacy and how the various equipments and facilities will be put to use after the games. There are those who feel that most of the venues and assisting facilities in the Olympic village will be converted into schools and technical institutes for games development for the benefit of London youths. Furthermore, this is estimated to create over three thousand permanent jobs for the local people. Most importantly it is hoped that the Olympic Games will increase the level of sports participation in the U K including for those who are disabled (Rose, 2009). Transformers Arechetypes free essay sample
Transformers Archetypes Archetypes in the movie Transformers contrast and differ from each other in many ways. The archetypes range from; The Hero, to the Devil Figure, to many others found in the usual Battle between good and evil Situational Archetypes. Another situational archetype is The Journey, which is also used in this movie. These two Situational Archetypes are big key points in discovering what each individual character goes through within the movie. One of the major Archetypes used in this movie is ââ¬ËThe Journeyâ⬠, which is when Sam, (Shia LaBeouf), goes on a quest to try and find what the Auto bots are in search of for their old planet. At first they have to believe that him being a human and not their kind, that they can actually trust him with searching for their All Spark which is their command center for their planet to actually hold life. He shows that he is responsible and wanting to actually help with the situation. S. Army in the situation. They as well are trying to help the good guys with their situation. ââ¬Å"Mentorâ⬠is another and ââ¬Å"Initiateâ⬠for Sam because he is pretty much taking training from Optimus Prime. Optimus is the big mentor/leader in this situation because he knows everything about the planet, and all there is you could think of. He leads Sam through everything, and tells him specific things that he can do to help. Itââ¬â¢s not so much training Sam, but leading the problem by getting him to do what he is told. He is a major help because of everything that he knows about their planet. A small archetype used in the movie also is the ââ¬Å"Temptressâ⬠, which in this case is Mikaela, which whom Sam is very attracted too since the first day he has seen her. Sheââ¬â¢s a help in the situation, but sometimes a very big distraction, to all of the characters in the movie, even some of the auto bots. Sam is completely attracted to her, and gets so nervous when she is around. Although she is always around she can be a help sometime to get the bad guys attention. But for Samsââ¬â¢ part since he is very attracted to her, he gets easily distracted by her being around all of the time. Itââ¬â¢s a bad thing that he gets distracted because it gets in the way of him looking for what he is supposed to be looking for. ââ¬Å"Creature of Nightmareâ⬠is another archetype; you can say a big one also. This is so, because of all the bad robots that come in the movie. Their ones that shouldnt be mentioned, but they are the ones who make the nightmare come alive. But yet they are very much used, and throughout the entire movie. And that being said they are the bad ones used, so they are like the humans worse nightmare because they cause harm to human beings, and especially to planet earth. They try and destroy everything they see right off the bat. Itââ¬â¢s even harm to the good robots which are the auto bots, because thatââ¬â¢s who they are trying to get their life back from their planet. ââ¬Å"Heroâ⬠is a major in the storyline of the movie. The hero who is Sam because he helps out the good robots with what they are looking for and actually accomplishes that. He is the one who knows all of the secrets pretty much because of his great grandfather. The reason he is the hero is because of the back round he has on him. That is why they chose him, and were lucky to find him, that way he will be able to help out. With the many archetypes used in the story, they are all used very much, within the series of the four movies even. The archetypes arenââ¬â¢t even hard to spot out, because how they are used, and the way the show them. Thereââ¬â¢s many more used within the movie, but these are just some of the main used in the plotline of the story.

Welcoming a New Generation free essay sample
Many generations of different time periods have experienced events leading to common values and behaviors within that generation. There are five generations ranging between the years of 1901-2002: The G. I. 1901-1924), Silent (1925-1942), Boom (1943-1960), Generation X (1961-1981), and Millennial Generation (1982-2002). Each generation leaves behind a culture that is accepted, rejected or modified by the next generation. One generationââ¬â¢s culture is the next generationââ¬â¢s common sense. Generation X and Millennial students are the majority of todayââ¬â¢s college students. The Millennial students have matured in a cultural environment with positive and negative qualities. Some positive qualities include being generous and practical, working on a schedule, multi-tasking and obeying rules. Along with the positives, technology has produced negative effects such as critical thinking skills, interpersonal skills and rote learning. Parenting has evolved from supportive to almost forceful involvement in their childrenââ¬â¢s lives during adolescences to college years. Meaning of the Term Black Church and Its Importance
Meaning of the Term Black Church and Its Importance The ââ¬Å"black churchâ⬠is a term used to describe Protestant churches that have predominately black congregations. More broadly, the black church is both a specific religious culture and a socio-religious force that has shaped protest movements, such as the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s. Origins of the Black Church The black church in the United States can be traced back to chattel slavery in the 18th and 19th centuries. Enslaved Africans brought to the Americas a variety of religions, including traditional spiritual practices. But the system of slavery was built on the dehumanization and exploitation of enslaved people, and this could only be achieved by depriving slaves of meaningful connections to land, ancestry, and identity. The dominant white culture of the time accomplished this through a system of forced acculturation, which included forced religious conversion. Missionaries would also use promises of freedom to convert enslaved Africans. Many enslaved people were told they could return to Africa as missionaries themselves if they converted. While it was easier for polytheistic beliefs to merge with Catholicism, which ruled in areas such as the Spanish colonies, than the Protestant Christian denominations that dominated early America, enslaved populations constantly read their own narratives into Christian texts and incorporated elements of their previous faiths into Christian frameworks. Out of this cultural and religious acculturation, early versions of the black church were born. Exodus, The Curse of Hamà and Black Theodicy Black pastors and their congregations maintained their autonomy and identify by reading their own histories into Christian texts, unlocking new routes for self-realization. For example, many black churches identified with the Book of Exodusââ¬â¢s story of the prophet Moses leading the Israelites escape from slavery in Egypt. The story of Moses and his people spoke to hope, promise and the benevolence of a God which was otherwise absent in the systematic and oppressive structure of chattel slavery. White Christians worked to justify slavery through the employment of a white savior complex, whichà in addition to dehumanizing black people, infantilized them. They insisted that slavery was good for black people, because black people were inherently uncivilized. Some went so far as to claim that black people had been cursed and slavery was the necessary, God-intended punishment. Seeking to maintain their own religious authority and identity, black scholars developed their own branch of theology. Black theodicy refers specifically to theology that answers for the reality of anti-blackness and the suffering of our ancestors. This is done in a number of ways, but primarily by re-examining suffering, the concept of free-will, and Godââ¬â¢s omnibenevolence. Specifically, they examined the following question: If there is nothing that God does that is not good in and of itself, why would he inflict such immense pain and suffering on black people? Questions like this one presented by black theodicy led to the development of another type of theology, which was still rooted in accounting for the suffering of black people. It is perhaps the most popular branch of black theology, even if its name is not always well known: Black Liberation Theology. Black Liberation Theology and Civil Rights Black Liberation Theology strove to incorporate Christian thought into the black communityââ¬â¢s legacy as a ââ¬Å"protest people.â⬠By recognizing the social power of the church, along with the safety it offered within its four walls, the black community was able to explicitly bring God into the daily liberation struggle. This was famously done within the Civil Rights Movement. Although Martin Luther King Jr. is most often associated with the black church in the context of civil rights, there were many organizations and leaders during that time who leveraged the churchââ¬â¢s political power. And although King and other early civil rights leaders are now famous for their nonviolent, religiously-rooted tactics, not every member of the church embraced nonviolent resistance. On July 10, 1964, a group of Black men led by Earnest ââ¬Å"Chilly Willyâ⬠Thomas and Frederick Douglas Kirkpatrick founded The Deacons For Defense and Justice in Jonesboro, Louisiana. The purpose of their organization? To protect members of the Congress For Racial Equity (CORE) against violence from the Ku Klux Klan. The Deacons became one of the first visible self-defense forces in the South. Although self defense was not new, the Deacons were one of the first groups to embrace it as part of their mission. The power of Black Liberation Theology within the black church did not go unnoticed. The church itself came to serve as a place of strategy, developmentà and reprieve. It has also been a target of attacks by numerous hate groups, such as the Ku Klux Klan. The history of the Black church is long and not over. Today, the church continues to redefine itself to meet the demands of new generations; there are those within its ranks who work to remove factors of social conservatism and align it with new movements. No matter what position it takes in the future, it cannot be denied that the black church has been a pivotal force within Black American communities for hundreds of years and those generational memories are not likely to fade.

Event Marketing Plan How To Make Sure Yours Is Perfect
Event Marketing Plan How To Make Sure Yours Is Perfect If an event happens and nobody hears about it, did it really happen? Maybe thats not the philosophical question of the decade, but its a good one for content marketers to ask. Id hazard a guess that if not very many people heard about the event, it didnt really happen. Everything You Need To Know For The Perfect #EventMarketing Plan via @JulieNeidlingerWhy Hold An Event? Planning and hosting an event is a lot of work, and it may not seem worth the effort. You have enough going on with your blog, your social media, and all of the various content marketing efforts that help build your audience. Events, though, are one of the few ways you actually get personalà with your audience. This does two things: Your audience sees you as a person.à Events are a good way for you to connect to your readers in a human way. Your audience gets to meet others like them.à Eventsà can almost be a reward for a great audience, providing an event or venue where they can meet others with the same interests as them. Why is it important that people see you as people? Conversation and engagement online is one thing, but as every politician knows, you have to get out and meet the people.à Meeting people face-to-face increases loyalty to you, your message, and your brand. It removes that invisible layer that somehow allows people to say and do things online that they'd never do in person. And, while I'm sure your audience isn't made of trolls, that still allows for them to dismiss you easier than if they knew you in real life. If the research is true, and 90% of how we communicate is through non-verbal communicationà like gestures and vocal quality,à a face-to-face meeting is more powerful than any blog post you'll ever write. 90% of how we communicate is non-verbal. That's why face-to-face is soà powerful. So an event strengthens the bonds between members of your audience, and it strengthens their loyalty to you. 4 Elements Of A Simpleà Event Marketing Plan We make a planning app, so of course, we're going to tell you that the first thing you need to do is some serious planning. But that's not just prejudice talking- you need to plan your marketing for your event as much as you plan for things like venue, speakers, and catering. Think of your event as if it is the core of an apple. All of that stuff that surrounds it is pretty important for the person consuming it. An apple with only a core is an event without a marketing plan. No one reaches for an apple coreà just likeà no one comes to an event without the marketing that brought them there. Marketing your event is the only way to get people to show up. #eventmarketing1. Start by asking broad questions. Let's start with a few questions that you and your team can ask to get the ideas flowing in your initial planning meeting. You should have the planning and marketing team present. Order the answers you collect based on the most important or the most likely: What's the story behind your event? What is the theme behind your event? Why are you holding the event? Who do you hope will come? Who do you think will really come? What is the value of this event for those that will come? Is this event more important to us than to our audience? What do you hope people will take with them when the event is over? Will this event make your attendees' lives better? How will you know if your event is a success? What is the measurement? What is the most wildly amazing success that could happen from this event? What kind of budget is there for each team to work with? There is a subtle thread running through these questions: Are you planning an event because you need it, or because your audience needs it? The latter is the best choice, but either might be a reality. Are you planning an event because you need it, or because your audience needs it?It's not enough to start your planning with the idea of "we're going to have a few speakersà and a good brunch" and call it good. You must start with a broad understanding of the goal of the event. It's hard to create fantastic event marketing around the choice of fruit at the buffet. 2. Confirm details and lay out a budget. The budget. Never a sexy thing for most of us. But, after you've gotten a better understanding of the event, you need to create a budget before doing anything else. The event planners have (hopefully) been hard at work lining up everything from venue to speakers toà giveaways. You should now have an idea of: Date and/orà time Location Speakers Event format Even if these kinds of details aren't fully locked down, the marketing team should have enough toà get started on their marketing plan. And a marketing plan starts with a budget. You must notà proceed without a budget. It's tempting to get wrapped up in the excitement of what content you'll create, but a budget needs to be in place first. Planning #eventmarketing without a budget is like planning anà event without speakers. It's not...You mustà know how much your marketing team is able to spend before you can plan your marketing approach. Without a budget, you could end up dumping a lot of money on huge glossy bannersà and leaving very little forà other kinds of content marketing that might work better with those who are attending. 3.à Create a dedicated website and social accounts for your event. Let's start with the one piece of content that your event should have no matter what: a dedicated website. Your event (especially one that is a recurring event) should have its own Web page. It's better to send people to a website solely for the event rather than a page buried elsewhere in your site. Content Marketing World, from Content Marketing Institute, has a website to market their event. You should have a simple website for your event, too. If you follow these tips, your site might even be better than Content Marketing World's. If you aren't able to do this, at least consider a landing page with a custom domain name pointing to it. According to Orbit Media's Andy Crestodina, this dedicated website should have: Copy. You'll need, of course, compelling copy describing the event. And that compelling copy, of course, needs to somehowà tell the vital details of when, where, and what. Curation. All of the pre-event content should be curated in one place. Collect the social feeds, or use an app like Twubs to pull together all of the Tweets with your event's hashtag(s). Make it easy for those who find your site to get involved promoting it on social media. Speakers. Images and bios of the speakers who willà be at the event. You could even post videos of brief interviews of the speakers if you really wanted your attendees to get a feel for what their message is. Registration. Prominent registration button, making it super easy to register. Social proof. You need a way to display social proof. In other words, if you are getting some social buzz surrounding your event, it should be displayed prominently on your site. In a way, it's a bit like testimonials for how awesome the event is going to be. Along with a dedicated website, you should also have dedicated social accounts. While it's fine if your brand tweets and publishes content about the event, you should have separate accounts, too. Why? Your audience can reach out to you with questions easier. You can follow people with the event social accounts and make that part of your publicity efforts. Your tweets and posts won't get lost in other brand messages in news feeds and on your profile pages. It is easier to curate pre-event social content because the content is all in one account. It's also easier to measure the success of your social media plan because there is only event-related content present. You get twice the exposure, once on your brand account, and another on your dedicated account. Create a dedicated website and social media accounts as part of your event marketing plan.Your event matters. Give it its own Web and social media properties. It deserves that much. 4.à Plan the 3à major points of attack with 2à types of event content. Your event content marketing plan has three major points of attack: pre-event, during the event, and post-event. The content you create for each of those points is slightly different. There are also two kinds of content marketing that surround an event: informative and buzz. Let's take a look. Informative event content marketing tells attendees what they need to know. This might include information on registrationà and deadlines, or sharing informative blog posts. If you notice a common questions popping up from attendees, you can answer it. This isn't "sexy" content, but it is useful content, and it's the information people need to know. Buzz event content marketing is self-explanatory. It's all about building the buzz and excitement for the event. It helps increase word-of-mouth, and its goal is to get more people to register for the event. This might include hints and event surprisesà orà giveaways of event schwag. If you've planned a hashtag or other community-generated content idea around your event, that content fits here. Both of these event content types can be used by the three major points of attack. Pre-event content marketing happens long before the event happens. You have to get this one right. Before the event happens, your content marketing must: Let your audience know about your event. Get them excited enough to register and tell others. Keep your audience updated on the event so they feel in the know. Help your audience remain excited about the event. It's tough to keep the energy level of people up, but your event content marketing really needs to do that. During the event, your content marketing takes on a kind of "live reporter" feel. You're keeping both the event attendees informed, as well as those who are following along back home. And, you are still keeping the buzz alive. Even though many of your followers might not have made it to the event, you're still building buzz for future events. It's important to post social content throughout the event featuring inspirational quotes from speakers, photos of the fun everyone is having, and so on. Post-event content marketing is the one most content marketers forget. We all need a bit of closure, especially if your event is going to happen repeatedly. This is your chance to get testimonials or collect social posts that are enthusiastic aboutà your event. Reach out to attendees on social media. Thank them for coming. Ask their opinions on the event. Post some buzz content from the event, and hint at the next event. Share downloads, videos, and helpful related content that both attendees and non-attendees find useful.
